Time is flying by faster than I ever imagined, it really is.
My baby. He's growing up. Not only is that sad to see my last little one be not so little anymore but it also brings us to that stage I am so not ready for...
Baby proofing. I am so out of that stage. We all are.
But reality is here and we need to wake up because "K" is learning how to move! Before long he is going to be getting into everything and with all the other kids all set in their usual ways it scares me to death. Legos, money, hair, candy, beads, eraser pieces... you name it. I knew we would need a huge lifestyle change as to think about every little thing we do and be aware of what we drop, leave out etc. but it wasn't until a few days ago it really hit me we need to get on the ball and put that new lifestyle into play and outlaw legos, money and small toys anywhere near the family room we usually hang out in. As I was vacuuming the family room and getting ready to lay "K" on the floor to play I was in awe just how horrible our vacuum actually is. I knew it was bad and have wanted a new one for years just couldn't decide what one I dare spend money on and so many friends had great suggestions, yet all were different. I have put it on the back burner and I guess you could say I pretended the cheap no suction piece of junk we have was going to be fine.
Until now. New baby, crawler, mini vacuum wanna be = trouble and must needed vacuum upgrade. One that actually picks up the dirt, hair and little bits and pieces and doesn't just spit them out as you pass over it. Well someone was reading my mind little did I know and I was asked to review the sweet Oreck Forever™ Series Gold!

You can love a vacuum right? Because I am so loving how much easier this great machine is making my life! Why do I love the Oreck Forever™ Series Gold vacuum? Well let me tell you of its sweet features that you are sure to agree with and love too!
The cord. Yes, the cord. One of my biggest pet peeves with a vacuum is when you have to move the plug every few feet, major waste of time and so not what I want to mess with. The cord on this thing is perfect! I can keep going and get the job done much quicker and my eyes back on the baby instead of tugging and unplugging the annoying cord! 35 feet long it definitely scores some brownie points in that area for sure! The handle has a unique shape and swivel tip on the bottom that makes it easy to wrap and store the cord and allows for easy removal.
Another HUGE vacuum must is suction power, what good is a vacuum that doesn't do its job? Have I really been pretending this long it was fine? Wow, wonder what all our visitors thought when they walked in the door and saw our floor. Think I was in denial it wasn't as bad as it actually is, now its embarrassing to think I spent so much time vacuuming and it basically just left some lines, moved some dirt and particles around, picked up a little and puffed up the carpet a bit. The canister was never as full as I thought it should be. And after a quick few swipes with my Oreck I can see a huge difference and am amazed at how much it got out of our carpet. Disgusting to say the least and a huge relief to know "K" will now have someplace clean to play and learn to crawl on. I love that it gets down deep where it is really needed and not just a quick job across the surface.
The roller bar has a smartly designed brush flow that meets at a "V" to bring all the particles it picks up directly to the inlet to prevent it from being shot back out from under the vacuum and provides a more direct suction for deep down cleaning. Another great feature of the roller bar is a groove that runs along the entire dowel that makes it easy to remove any hair or string wrapped around the bar by simply swiping a razor blade along the groove. Genius.
No need to get dirty cleaning canisters either, the Oreck Forever™ Series Gold is set with a HEPA bag that captures 99.97% of all particles from your air and removing and replacing it is a breeze. I love how it seals shut when you pull it and traps all those dusty particles inside.
I have noticed the air in the room seems so much better because the Oreck doesn't leave the dusty cloud behind like my old vacuum did, great for the dusting (stays clean for more than a day) and great for the smell! (no more leaving the house smelling like a dust tornado just passed through and less sneezing while vacuuming too!)
Additional features are always a plus like the very cool side brushes that are great to swipe the hair and particles lurking around your baseboard edges. With a house full of girls you can guarantee there are pieces of hair, sometimes mini rubber hair bands and who knows what else that can make their way to the edges of the carpet. Its great these brushes can grab those as you vacuum and you don't have to go around with the hose every single time.
More awesome features include cord stops so you never have to worry about the cord being chewed up by the vacuum. (My daughter has done that before with my moms vacuum, we ended up replacing the entire cord and it was not cheap!) You also don't need to worry about that random sock under the bed you didn't see or an item of clothing being ruined when accidentally pulled into the vacuum. The roller bar stops and allows you to remove the item to prevent damage.
Another great bonus included with the Oreck Forever™ Series Gold is that it includes 3 annual tune-ups and an awesome long lasting Enduro life belt with easy access from the side panel by a simple screw.
The two speed motor/power switch is great
when you are going from carpet to tile or linoleum.

With new grandchildren crawling and running around, we don't need anything left on the carpets after vacumming for them to vaccum up!!!
Oh how I need this! I have a mini cleaning business and our vacuum is SHOT. Our baby is ALWAYS finding stuff on the ground even after we use said "shot vacuum" Thanks for the info on the Give-away!
This vacuum would come in handy! My sweet grandson dumped, a new just opened, baby banana snacks all over the floor. Then he stomped on them to hear the CRUNCH under his feet! My one year old granddaughter was grabbing what she could and stuffing in her mouth, so I need to keep my floors clean as much as possible or my little vacuums will pick up whatever they can find!
