Mark-My-Time Review and Giveaway

Most kids are required to read 20 minutes a day for school. 

My kids have a routine at bedtime to get on pj's, brush their

teeth and have free time to read for a half hour or so before

the the lights go out. Sometimes they read for only some of

that time we give them, other times they are begging for more.

Either way its hard with each of them in different rooms to 

keep track of each of their reading and when they start or

stop. Or when we read together with them and get interrupted

its great to have a timer to keep us on track of where we are

and need to be time wise. I love the idea with these cool

"Mark-my-time" digital bookmarks and personally think they

should offer them to all the kids in our school or even have

them earn it as top readers and have a goal they need to 

reach to get it. Its so nice to have a bookmark that not 

only keeps track of their place, but how much time they have read. 

For some reason when I saw it online I imagined the bookmark

part of it to be a soft bendy plastic. No clue why..just did. But its

not its a hard stiff slim piece to hold your stopping place easily. 

Simple to work and you can use it clock mode, countdown mode

or count up/cumulative modes. You can set the timer for the

allowed minutes you want your child to read and once they reach

that goal time the alarm will sound to let them know they can 

bookmark their spot for another time or day to finish. No more

interruptions with them asking if they can be done.

In the count up mode you can keep track of your reading through

out the day and watch as your minutes progress. If your child has 

a hard time getting to that 20 minute school reading goal you can 

take a little time here and there in the day and make it fun and 

give them a break in between so they will still enjoy reading and will

not start to get discouraged and begin to hate it. Those few minutes

through out the day or evening will help them reach their goal a

little easier and in a better mood! It can operate at the same time 

as the countdown mode too. 

I think its a great tool to help them with their reading timing 

and actually has encouraged my child to read a little longer

because they like to read more than they have the time before. 

When they can "see" their progress and the time they have

read in front of them it helps give them that little boost to set 

a little higher goal and keep going. It makes it fun. You can 

get them in a variety of colors or even with a little book light!
