EARLY BIRD GIFT GUIDE: Continuum Games Review & Giveaway

Continuum Games
We love games, we love family time, and we love
to find new additions to add to our collection!
Even better than just a game..we love when we can
learn from them while also having fun!

sent us some new games to explore and play together.
Three very entertaining learning finds that my kids are loving!

One thats great for the holidays approaching... and a
perfect Santa suggestion for the stocking is the game
"Lumps", The Elf Coal Game

This fun dice game brings the challenges to the
table as you try to roll matching digits and get the
competition going as you race to be the first player
to reach 100 or more points, and to see how many rolls
it will take for you to reach it. The cute little stocking
pouch keeps all the pieces together and is so small
that it fits in the palm of your hand. Lumps of coal
in a variety of shapes are rolled by each player and
a score of points is tallied up til the first winner is made.
Your kids will be happy Santa left coal in their stocking!
My kids have really had fun with the game and its been
a good way to practice their counting skills as well as
to figure out different scenarios to reach their goal.
Exact Change is also another fun learning game for those
who are discovering the face value of money and how
to create different combination's to make an exact amount
to pay for an item. Its great to get them thinking and learn it
without them getting frustrated they don't understand.
I know there are times my kids have gotten so confused with trying
to figure out money and finally get mad and won't listen. When its
a game, they connect the feeling of having fun playing a game with
it and not the anxiety and frustration that may come with learning
something they have a hard time grasping. It makes learning
so much easier when they enjoy it and are willing to try!

We have played it quite a few times and the kids really like it
and seem to be understanding money so much better. We pulled
it out when Grandma & Grandpa were here for a few days and
had them also join in on the fun a little.
It reminds me of UNO where you can match the color on
the card, the face value of the coin shown or you can
make exact change to lay down. The kids get so excited
when they can complete a match and pay down a bunch
of cards at a time when they can create the exact change.
They work great together at helping each other learn
what it takes to make the amounts shown on the card.
It has been fun to see them enjoy it as much as they do.
The third game we received is called Family Talk
A clip and go collection of fun and thought provoking
questions to get your family talking and discussing things
to learn about one another, get a glimpse into their minds
and even get those not so interested teens to join in on
the conversations. Diverse topics included may also bring
out some interesting finds and help you fill your family in
on what to do in those situations you may have never
fully discussed as a family. A great way to know you are
all on the same page and what to do if one were to arise.
Some of the questions included are
"Who is the most famous person you have ever met"
"What is your favorite meal made by your grandparents"
"Can you remember all of your old addresses & Phone numbers? What are they?"
"How would you describe each family member to someone using only words or gestures?"
"What foods or smells remind you of when you were younger?"
"If you were being abducted what would you do and how?" Demonstrate  it.

The collection of questions is conveniently compiled onto
a ring and makes this game easy to take along to family
gatherings, on car rides or camping trips. Ready to pull out
when the silence is taking over and becoming awkward.
When sports, dance and meeting schedules get in they
way of quality family talk time its great to encourage the
discussions even when on the go. Learn about each
other in between class times, while waiting for the game
to start or during the never ending carpooling drives.

I love that you can repeat these questions over and over
and many have multiple answers. Favorites
in children tend to change over time so you can
continue to keep up with their current likes and dislikes.
Its been great to learn more about my kids that I thought
I already knew, but didn't and talk with them in a fun way
and not make them feel like it was a quiz down.
