Life just seems to get harder and harder for the youth and
children now days. With all the drama around them, broken
families, bullies and things that can tear down their self-esteem
and self-worth I think they need that extra nudge to help them
feel loved, safe, wanted and important.
I know my girls have their days when to them they feel like
the entire world is falling apart and no one cares or no
one is there for them. It breaks my heart when they feel
down and like they are not important or special.
I found this fun website online that sells a great product
for kids living in today's crazy world. Journal Buddies is
a special journal specific to girls or boys that helps them
see and point out the special people they are, to help them
connect and communicate what they feel.
"One of the simplest and most powerful ways to build
self-esteem in kids is to tell them exactly what it is that makes
them so incredible and amazing! The easiest way to achieve
this is to make a concerted effort to point out the special
qualities, traits or talents that you admire about your child"
"After you've pointed out exactly what it is that makes your child
so wonderful, simply make sure they have fully absorbed what
you have told them. This simple yet powerful self-esteem action
is the basis of Journal Buddies!"
These books can give your child a core self-esteem experience
that lives inside and can last with them forever. Once a day for 30
days you can take the time to share what you love and admire about
your child and have them record this experience in their journal.
and I am so excited to work on it with my girls. I know my oldest will really
benefit from it as we go through the day to day questions and point out
her positive qualities and just focus on how special she really is and
magnify those feelings to keep with her and remember them when she
may have times of questioning herself or feeling down. Nothings worse
than feeling like you are not important, when in reality it is the furthest
thing from the truth that anyone could ever feel about themselves.
One thing I also love about this journal is that the girls have their buddies
help them complete their journal. During the 30 days they can have the
same buddy help them, or chose someone new each time. Its all up to
them! They can choose a buddy from school, a grandparent, a family
member, neighborhood friend, brother or sister, a parent or an Aunt.
If they feel its too personal they may even choose to involve a favorite
pet or imaginary friend for the day to be their journal buddy.
Journal Buddies also allows them to bring out their creativity and
what they enjoy doing, such as drawing, painting, cutting & pasting,
fun with stickers or stamps. The most important thing is that its up
to them ITS THEIR CHOICE how they want to use and keep this
journal. One of the things to help make it extra special to them as well.
Ideas & words are included to help get the mind flowing with
thoughts and things they may want to write or express in other ways.
When the journal is complete they can look back and see all the
wonderful ways they discovered and magnified on how special and
important they & their buddies really are!
I think these books are a great teaching tool and I am
looking forward to see the positive changes that can
follow as my daughters learn more about themselves
and accept themselves for who they are! I think I will
see an improvement in my 9 year olds anxiety over
the worry about not being good enough for everyone
around her and help her stress less over the things that
may not be as bad as they seemed.
I think many girls 7-12 could benefit from this book as
they go through out lives changes as they grow into
pre-teens and beyond. Thanks Journal Buddies for a
fabulous journal to help our girls along the way! Well done!
