Has the sillyband craze hit your home?
I had heard about them for months and was shocked
my kids didn't have the trend going on at their school
and in the neighborhood yet, well it didn't take long
until my home was full of silly shapes and colors
that the kids would take to school and trade with all
their friends. Everyday they were coming home with
a new shape, design or cool effect like glow in the dark
bands and rings. My son was so hooked on him he
refused to take the million off his arm even for school
pictures! And I am not kidding he wears sooo many at
a time I have to beg him to only wear 2-3. He sleeps with
them, showers with them (and makes sure he scrubs them
clean, thank heavens!) and they go everywhere with him!
I came across this fun kit while internet surfing and I knew
my kids and all their friends would go crazy over it and was
super excited when they agreed to let us review them on our site!
Let me introduce you to the

How cool is that, your kids would go crazy too, right?
Be the only kids in the neighborhood with custom homemade
silly band shapes! My 6 year old obviously was thrilled, she told all
her friends about it at school then came home and told me she
promised to make them all one. Nice! We have yet to do that but
looks like we are going to have to order a bunch and spend a day
creating and having fun making some. If I had more time before
Valentine's Day it would have been a fun addition to the cards
she is handing out at their party on Monday.
The kit we were sent comes with a blue pegboard and a bunch
of little pegs so you can create your own shaped bands, its
simple to make for kids, but needs an adult to help when its
time to finalize their project in the oven. It also includes 24
colored silly bands in three sizes.
We have had so much fun creating what ever shape they
decide to dream up, as well as some they show on the package
for ideas. Our first attempt was this little butterfly my daughter
made...she wanted a little help so I tried to add some
antennas to it, we moved a few pegs around and put it in the oven..
Well we thought we had enough give still but within seconds in the oven
it ended up like this..ooops and we were even warned that
it was fool proof unless it was stretched to far..our bad.
Next try..was our attempt at this castle my other daughter created...
Success! And super cute too!
Then the dog.. love the way it turned out too..
Some creative fun has sure been happening here...
the kids can design for hours!
I think these are the perfect gift for the next time your
child gets invited to a classmates birthday party. They will
be excited to be able to make them too and show off their
creative side. One thing I dislike about this kit is the fact that it
only comes with one pegboard and it takes about 15 minutes
per sillyband you make..so it can take forever to complete them
when you have antsy little kids waiting. We baked them at
225 F for 10 minutes and cooled for the 5 min. as the included
instructions told us to, but the website says bake for 15 and cool
for 5 min..so I guess it can take 20 minutes total if you follow
the online directions. 15 worked fine for us so I am sure thats
what we will stick with. If it came with a second pegboard at
least I think it would be more worth the 15-20 minute wait..
but just my opinion. You can actually make up to 5 at one time
of the same shape by stacking them on the same pegs then
gently pulling them apart after its been in the oven, but the kids
didn't seem to like that idea because they wanted more of
a variety and not ones that are the same, which is what makes
them even more cool I guess! Even with the time it takes to complete
each band the kids LOVED this kit and it has been a big hit in
our home..if your kids love Silly bands..I know this would
be the perfect gift in your home too!
It takes time to make something fun & cool like this....
so just entertain your kids with another project while its
in the oven and it will go by so much faster!
